HIGH BRIGHT TOUCHSCREEN MONITORS

HIGH BRIGHT TOUCHSCREEN MONITORS

Keetouch GmbH sunlight readable High Bright touchscreen monitors suitable for outdoor use, featuring powerful LED backlight and providing a brightness of up to 2500 cd/m².

Overview
Overview

In areas with a high ambient light like outdoors in direct sunlight, content on touchscreen monitors with TFT LCD displays with normal brightness is often difficult to read, because the brightness of the sunlight is much higher than the brightness of the display. Although a display with less than 500 cd/m² screen brightness and 2 to 1 contrast ratio can stay readable in outdoor environments, it looks dark and faded. Reflections on the display wash out the images on the screen. Keetouch High Bright monitors enable users to see sharp, clear images even with bright industrial lights or sunlight directly on the screen. This is achieved through a combination of industry-leading LED backlight with brightness range between 1000 to 2500 cd/m², as well as anti-glare coating and Optical bonding.

Anti-Glare Coating
Anti-Glare Coating

The anti-glare (AG) coatings on the protective glass have excellent performance in tough ambient light conditions. The manufacturing principle of AG glass is divided into physical AG and chemical etching AG methods. The physical AG method includes a glass surface spraying method or a water jet method, and the chemical AG method is a glass surface etching technology.

Keetouch production usually uses AG chemical etching. This refers to the changing of the glass surface from a smooth surface to a micron particle surface through a chemical reaction. A microscopically rough surface of display can diffuse glare and reduce reflection by scattering light directed on its surface. The process principle is complex and results from ionization equilibrium, chemical reaction, dissolution and recrystallization, ion exchange and other reactions.

Keetouch AG coating can increase contrast by enhancing light transmission rate over 95% and can effectively diminish the mirror images. can It can soften the image of direct light sources visible in the reflection of the viewing area.

Optical Bonding
Optical Bonding

Optical bonding improves viewability of touchscreen monitors in sunlight or other high-bright environments. In a touchscreen monitor, the touchscreen sensor and the LCD panel are separate components. The touchscreen is mounted in front of the LCD surface and there is a small air gap between these two components. When sunlight passes through the touchscreen layer, some amount of the light is reflected between the LCD surface and the touchscreen; this reflection reduces LCD viewability.

Optical bonding is a process where a clear optical-grade adhesive gel is placed between the LCD and the touchscreen to enhance its readability under direct sunlight or in high humidity outdoor environments. This method eliminates the air gap and bubbles between the cover glass and the display and significantly reduces reflections. At the same time, the contrast ratio increases as reflections are reduced. Optical bonding also eliminates internal moisture and condensation. Moreover, it will make the monitor more rugged and durable. Controlling reflected light dramatically improves the performance of the display in any ambient lighting condition.

TFT LCD
TFT LCD

Every touchscreen monitor includes an LCD panel. This panel includes a thin layer of TFT LCD pixels, where each pixel includes a red, blue, and green rectangle. Each rectangle is a small lens that can be adjusted to allow varying amounts of light to pass through. The colors on the screen are determined by how much light is passing through each element of each pixel. The light comes from the LED backlight behind the pixels that emit white light. There is also a layer of light diffusing material between the LED backlight and the LCD pixel layer. The light diffusing material scatters the light from each individual backlight LED, so they do not show up as bright spots on the monitor.

Brightness
Brightness

Brightness or luminance is the scientific term which specifies the visual brightness of an object. Luminance is specified in candelas per square meter (cd/m²) or nits.

Brightness is paramount for perceived picture quality. The importance of brightness is enhanced by the fact that the human mind will react more positively to brightly illuminated scenes and objects. Users are typically more drawn to brighter displays that are more pleasing to the eye and easier to read. Even in indoor environments, where a standard TFT LCD display with brightness around 250 cd/m² looks good, a sunlight readable High Bright monitor with brightness of 1000 cd/m² will look even more attractive. Keetouch High Bright monitors have brightness range between 1000 to 2500 cd/m², which enables you to choose the right monitor for your needs.

Contrast
Contrast

Contrast ratio (CR) is the ratio of brightness between the brightest “white” and the darkest “black” that can be produced on a display. CR is another major determinant of perceived picture quality. If a picture has high CR, you will judge it to be sharper and crisper than a picture with lower CR.

However, the CR on the same unit measured under ambient illumination is drastically lowered due to surface reflection (glare). This is due to the fact that surface glare increases the brightness by over 200 cd/m² both on the white and the black that are produced on the display screen. The CR then becomes less and the picture quality is drastically reduced. Keetouch High Bright monitors have CR up to 4000:1 to maintain the quality of the image.

Viewing Angle
Viewing Angle

The viewing angle is the angle at which the image quality of a screen degrades and becomes unacceptable for the intended application. As the observer physically moves to the sides of the screen, the images on a screen degrade in three ways. First, the brightness drops. Second, the contrast ratio usually drops off at large angles. Third, the colors may shift. The definition of the viewing angle is not absolute as it will depend on your application. Keetouch specialists can help you find the perfect touchscreen solution with the right viewing angle for your particular project.

Auto-dimming sensore
Auto-dimming sensor

The brightness of a High Bright monitor may be overwhelming at night, when there is little or no ambient light. Keetouch industrial High Bright monitors are available with an auto-dimming sensor. The sensor on the front bezel measures incoming light and adjusts the backlight brightness to match the current light conditions. This is a requirement for industrial touchscreen monitors that are used in both sunlight and moonlight.

Cooling fans
Cooling fans

Any High Bright LED backlight will consume a significant amount of power, thereby increasing the temperature of the monitor. The brighter the backlight, the greater the thermal issue. Additionally, if the monitor is used under sunlight, additional heat will be generated as a result of sunlight exposure. Temperature issues can be handled through proper thermal management design.

Keetouch High Bright monitors have special air-cooling fans. The fans keep their panels and other internal components at the optimum working temperature which allows the screens to be in constant use and ensures a long and reliable lifespan for touch monitors.

Rugged grade
Rugged grade

Keetouch High Bright monitors feature robust system that is protected with aluminum chassis and IP65 waterproof front bezel which is ideal for factory wash-down environments or for outside use in challenging weather. Touchscreen is made of scratch-resistant and durable glass.
